Every once in a while, a new indie film hits the market that is well-made and worth the watch. That time has come with the new horror film written and directed by Andre Dixon in Orlando Florida with his new film, The Curse of Abigail Proctor.
Story Synopsis
The film follows Darius and his wife Amanda after they inherit the home of his mother after her mysterious death. The goal of the couple is to move to Florida in hopes to reconcile their broken marriage. However, soon after moving into the home, strange supernatural occurrences begin to take place as Amanda begins to uncover terrifying secrets about her recently deceased mother-in-law.
Production
We love indie films and wish more would surface with the quality of production as this film. The Curse of Abigail Proctor showcases the passion and dedication of its indie filmmaking team. While it may not have the same high-budget resources as mainstream productions, the film compensates with its creativity and resourcefulness. The cinematography effectively captures the eerie ambiance of the home, using lighting and camera angles to create a sense of foreboding and suspense. The production design and set dressing contribute to the film’s immersive atmosphere, transporting the audience into the haunting past of Amanda’s deceased mother-in-law.
One of the film’s notable strengths lies in its creativity. It takes inspiration from classic horror tropes and folklore, infusing them with its unique narrative. The story combines elements of mystery, suspense, and supernatural horror, keeping the audience engaged and guessing throughout. The creativity extends to the characters as well, as they are well-developed and bring a sense of authenticity to the film.
